I live in a pretty place! This is the view from my bedroom window. I looked out to see this mountain all lit up like it was in a spotlight. Most of the rest of the valley was grey from a recent storm.

This is a beautiful corner of my world because now my kids have somewhere to put their coats! For our family of eight, we had one teeny tiny closet (about 2 ft. wide and 3 ft. deep) for all the coats, backpacks, boots, hats, etc. There was also no broom/vacuum/cleaning closet in this house. So everything was always spilling out of the closet and right into the entrance to our garage. We tried a temporary fix by taking out the hanger bar and installing hooks at kid height and adding shelves. But it didn’t help, to get in from the garage you always had to climb a mountain of coats. We took out the hooks and turned the closet back into a space for our vacuum and brooms and bought these old school lockers for the kids to keep their stuff in. I LOVE this little corner of my house now. It’s right in my family room, next to our couch. The lockers are beat up an I love them like that. The outside is minty green and the insides are painted sunshine yellow! So fun! When we first got them, the kids were always needing to “run and grab something from their lockers.” The younger kids thought they’d hit the big time. The novelty has worn off a little now and I’m finding piles of coats in front of the lockers but it’s still a much better solution to our coat and backpack problem. Besides, I like that it’s a little bit strange and an unexpected thing to have in a room. ************************************************************************ The Beautiful Corner Project is a little gratitude series to find things in my own real life that I find beautiful- a kids smile, a blooming flower, etc. How about you, any beautiful corners of your world you’d like to share? Add them to the Beautiful Corner Flickr Group so we can see them. Have a beautiful day!
My little studio is on the east side of our house. It catches some wonderful morning light. This was the scene today- a little patch shining through my blinds onto the mish-mash of objects on top of my file cabinet.
I am going to play a game. Want to join me? I read a thought that noticing beauty, wherever it is found, is a way of showing gratitude to our Creator. I love that idea. I love finding beautiful things. Old and new. But in all of the browsing & bookmarking that happens, it’s sometimes easy to forget all the beautiful things I already have. It’s easy to become dissatisfied with the “now” in hopes of the “someday.” At least once a week, I am going to upload an image of something I find beautiful. Something from my little corner of the world. It might be a cool pattern on a sidewalk, a child’s smile, or a sink free from dishes! In doing so, I hope to show my gratitude for the things around me and find beauty where maybe I overlooked it before. I have started a Flickr group: Beautiful Corner Project and I’d love for you to join in. Post whatever is beautiful to you. The only rule is that it must be of your own real life. It’s not about photography skills, it’s about gratitude. This is my Beautiful Corner for today:
It’s a watercolor done by my 4 yr. old son. He was so into it this day and took his time getting all the colors just right. It makes me happy every time I see it. What is beautiful in your corner of the world this week? Feel free to go to the flickr group and download the Beautiful Corner post header and use it on your own Beautiful Corner blog posts, just please link to the Flickr group. ![]() |
